Akihabara - 063/100 -

Ramen

I went to Akihabara with my best friend to buy an electric tester for repairing some PC. We met up at thirty to twelve. First, we had ramen for lunch. It was really delicious, with many kinds of herbs and spices.
After that, I found the electric tester and bought it.
It was a great day to meet my friend and have a good chat with him.

Original statement
I went to Akihabara with my best friend to buy an electric tester for repairing PC. We met up at thirty to twenty. At first, we ate ramen for lunch. It was really delicious with many kind of herbs and spices.
After that , I could find the electric tester and bought it.
It was a great day to meet my friend and talk a lot with him.

Explanations of Corrections
1.“for repairing PC” → “for repairing my PC” → In British English, it’s more natural to use a possessive (my/your/etc.) before objects like “PC.” Saying “repairing PC” sounds incomplete.

2.“thirty to twenty” → “thirty to twelve”
“Thirty to twenty” is not a valid time expression. The intended time was likely 11:30, which is correctly expressed as “thirty to twelve” in British English.

3.“At first, we ate ramen” → “First, we had ramen”
“At first” is typically used when there’s a contrast coming later. “First” is better for listing sequential actions. Also, British English prefers “had” for meals instead of “ate.”

4.“many kind of herbs” → “many kinds of herbs”
“Kind” must agree in number with “many”, so it becomes “many kinds of”.

5.Comma spacing: “After that , I could find” → “After that, I found”
Removed the extra space before the comma.
Changed “could find” to “found” because “could find” suggests difficulty or potential, but here it seems like you did find it, so “found” is simpler and more direct.

6.“It was a great day to meet my friend and talk a lot with him” → “It was a great day to meet my friend and have a good chat with him.”
“Talk a lot” is grammatically correct, but “have a good chat” is a more natural and common phrase in British English for casual conversations with friendsn.

Web app - 072/100 -

Today, I built an app that provides me with flashcards. I can use it on Google Chrome on my iPhone. I wrote the code with the help of ChatGPT.  I just explained the functionality I wanted, and it generated the code for me. It also guided me on how to use GitHub, Google Cloud, and so on. To be honest, I had no prior experience in coding or web development, but I still managed to build it. I believe this app will help improve my English learning.

Dark personality - 095/100 -

I have finished reading the book, What Does It Mean to Have a ‘Bad Personality?’ .  I was particularly interested in the section about ‘grit’, although it is not the main theme of this book. Grit is a personality trait that involves perseverance and determination. It is said that grit has a more positive effect on our achievements than IQ.  Additionally, the book argues that self-esteem is not a precursor to achievement; rather, it is built through accomplishment.  These two insights resonate with me deeply. Reason for applying

I want to find a career for the next 10 years while I'm in my 40s, retire early by 60, and spend the rest of my life enjoying my hobby of traveling. I would like my next career to be one that earns foreign currency (dollars). Japan's national power has been declining recently, and earning yen in Japan is inefficient and risky. However, I need to improve my English skills. My TOEIC score was around 400. In addition, it would be preferable to be self-employed. One of my children has a developmental disorder. Considering his future, leaving a business where we can work together would be a risk hedge. In order to be self-employed overseas, I must improve my English skills above all else. Next, I will find connections and work in the country where I will be working (Australia is the most likely candidate), and eventually become independent. How do I learn English? I thought that I would not be able to acquire a working level of English by attending an English school, as is the commo...
